Why should I choose electrolysis to solve my unwanted hair problem?

Permanent hair removal frees you from the daily routine of unwanted hair management. Electrolysis has been proven safe and effective over many years and is recognized by physicians and the American Medical Association. You can be confident that permanent hair removal will change your life in a positive and lasting way.

Is electrolysis safe?

Electrolysis has over a 145-year history of safety and effectiveness. There are no recorded incidents of electrolysis causing or transmitting disease.

What causes excessive hair?

  • Congenital- your genetic blueprint determines hair growth’s amount, location, and timing.
  • Systemic – Hormonal or other internal problems may result in unwanted body or facial hair, and if suspected, you may be referred for a medical evaluation.
  • Medications – Hormone treatment, birth control pills, and steroids are common medications that can cause excessive hair growth.

From what parts of the body can hair be removed?

From any part except deep within the ear and nose. With newer and faster methods, we are able to clear even large areas such as arms and legs at reasonable cost.

Do physicians recommend electrolysis?

Yes, physicians who understand the benefits of electrolysis recommend it to those patients concerned about excessive hair.

Does electrolysis hurt?

Electrolysis can be uncomfortable but not unbearable. There’s a feeling of warmth at the follicle when the current is applied, lasting but an instant. The Blend method, which Zapps specializes in, is adjustable to many different comfort levels within its effective range for permanent hair removal.

Some find it useful to take Tylenol or Advil prior to treatments. There are also over the counter numbing creams that can help if necessary.

Are there any after-effects?

Occasionally, there is a slight redness and mild skin swelling, which quickly fades. This reaction usually lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Some may have red marks that resolve and heal without intervention for a few days. Tea Tree Oil and Aloe Vera Gel are both helpful in aiding the skin to heal.

Can it leave marks or scars?

When administered by a skilled technician, it’s safe for even the most delicate skin. The treatment may smooth and improve your skin if you’ve been tweezing or waxing for some time.

How often do I come for treatments?

Electrolysis requires a series of treatments given over some time. The length of time varies from person to person and depends on many factors. The density and coarseness of the hair and the total area to be treated are critical. How well you tolerate treatments affect your overall success. The cause of the unwanted hair and the temporary methods of dealing with the hair in the past are also involved in the treatment time.

Many hairs will be permanently removed after the first treatment, while some will require additional treatments to achieve permanency. Treatments will be more frequent initially, with a progression of less time and frequency as the hair dies. The overall permanent and hair-free skin is usually well worth the time spent

Is hair removal by electrolysis really permanent?

Absolutely. Hair cannot grow without a root or blood supply. Once the hair root has been completely destroyed by electrolysis, no further growth can come from that follicle.

Is there any chance of regrowth?

In some cases, more treatments for deeper and coarser hair may be necessary to achieve permanency. Regrowth hair (depending on the coarseness) is thinner and more fragile with each treatment. Once a follicle is effectively treated, it is dead forever.

Is permanent hair removal expensive?

Compared to other health and beauty services and the cost of dealing with excessive hair using temporary means, electrolysis is usually very affordable. Remember, the problem is being dealt with permanently and not just on a short-term basis.

Specialization and development of new equipment have brought the cost of this one-time “luxury” down to almost anyone’s means.

Does shaving make my hair grow back thicker?

Shaving does not create new, active hair follicles. It also doesn’t increase the rate of hair growth or the color or length of hair. The color, density, location, and hair length mainly depend on genetic and hormonal factors.

Shaved body hair may feel coarse or “stubbly” as it grows out, losing the “wispy feel” of longer hair. During this time, it may be more noticeable.

What about laser?

Lasers have been used for hair removal since the mid 1990’s. Lasers have several shortcomings including:

  • They work well only when the hair is in the anagen (growing) phase. On some parts of the body, less than 50% of the hairs are in the growing phase.
  • They are not very effective on grey, blond, light or red hair.
  • Lasers are awkward and impractical to use when sculpting/shaping eyebrows and other critical areas.
  • They are less effective on darker and tanned skin.
